Fashion

At Winter Wonderland they are taking a break from Christmas and the winter season for a few weeks, starting with a challenge of Fashion. I love all cards to do with all styles of Fashion. My card above has been made with an image and backing paper from Frou Frou  CD from Crafter's Companion. I added a piece of turquoise velvet ribbon and a diamante ribbon slider. The sentiment is a stamp from Papermania. Thanks ladies,  once again I have promised myself to make  card for your challenges throughout the year, must ensure my Christmas cards are made often and regularly, but hey ho, I have said this the past two years.

Hello everyone, well we at CD Sunday Challenges are back after a week's break, certainly has been an enjoyable time, getting ready for Santa, gifts passes and surrounded by family and friends. I do hope you have all had a similar wonderful time. Now we are back in business and Sue T has setting us the challenge to hoist the mas for 'We Are Sailing'. You all know the rules by now, some part of your project must be from at least one CD. Enjoy yourselves, sit down and have a nice craft break. Have fun looking for your boats or ships.

W - is for Whatever You Want

At Alphabet Challenges we are nearing the end of our Annual Alphabet challenges.  Our fellow DT Member Roxx  is asking for the letter W -  Whatever You Want. I saw this as my escape for a little while from making a Christmas Card. I watched Mels Heaton on C & C.  TV making these wall hangers with MDF,  but have found mount board a good product to practice on.
Mountboard
Paper from LOTV - A Country Gentleman
Stamps from Sheena Douglas
Butterfly stamp from now Chocolate Baroque.
Distress Inks - Vintage Photo + Walnut Stain
Gold Embossing Powder.
Well the world is your oyster, we expect anyone who is not wrapping presents will have fun joining in with a free for all Whatever You Want.

Punches and or Dies

At Fan-Tastic Challenges where you must be Square, we are this week challenging you to Anything Goes but you need to use some punches or dies or both. I just love this stamp from Crafty Sentiments, I so think she looks like a lady who appears regularly on Create and Craft. I greatly enjoyed watching the programme with Lynda from Crafting Creative World (Cupcake Designs) with the new CD Here Come the Girls, which is now at the top of my wish list (please Santa drop a few money notes down my chimney pot).

Stamp - Crafty Sentiments - Jasmin  - Cheers
Distress Ink Fire Brick Red

A NEW ADVENTURE WILL SOON BEGIN

I have had the pleasure and honour over the last three years to have been on a few Design Teams for various types of challenge blogs. I believe the time has come for me to venture into the world on another level by owning my very own challenge blog. I am ready to set the ball in motion. Please keep your fingers crossed for me, I will need a lot of good luck and hopefully the crafters in and around in blogland will like my blog.

I am looking for a Design Team, if your interested please click above to find out how to go about it.
The DT Call will remain open until 30th December

Anything but a Card

Can't believe it is the 15th of the month already and here we are Sparkles Monthly back again with another challenge for you. Of course we are still all in the throngs of Christmas preparations or if well planned which I am not, everything is ready waiting for the big day. Our challenge is Anything BUT a Card, there is so much we can make, the design team have some wonderful ideas, please do pop over to see them. At a recent class we again decorated candles, the ladies do enjoy this technique. Please click on the picture, it will enlarge for more a more detailed close up. The stamps used above are
Left LOTV - Ornaments    Centre - I believe from Chocolate Baroque  - Right - Stamps Away
All gently coloured onto tissue paper with Promarkers. Melted onto the candle.
Sorry about the dirty mark on the left side, it is a shadow, the candle is actually clean (thanks goodness).

3 D's - Die-Cuts, Decoupage and D.L Card

As they say, 'Now For Something Different'.  This week at CD Sunday Challenges, Carol has challenged us each to do 3 Ds  - A D.L card, with Decoupage and to use Die cuts. Quite a mixture, to test you, well you did have a week of rest, of course we need to wake you up. LOL For my card I went to the lovely Flights of Fancy CD from Katy Sue, I so love the images, the colours, well everything about the CD really. i added a few die cuts as required, a small rose, also made from a die, then twirled around to make the flower. I decided as it wouldn't fit into the envelope I made a box, by drawing around the card and adding half an inch either side, scored and the corners cut and glued. I covered the box with the same pretty paper used on the card from the CD. Something different from a Christmas card too, I have made so many this year, lovely to have a change. I look forward to seeing what you have made for Carol's theme this week.

Christmas Birds

It's getting so close to Christmas, you've probably sent all of your cards out so hopefully you took some pics before they all went in the post,  for at My Time to Craft this week we are challenging you to make a project with Christmas Birds, basically any birds will do as long as they are Christmas orientated with a Christmas design. I used background paper from a Fizzy Moon paper pad. The stamp - Owls Christmas is from Crafter's Companions Mulberry Woods Designs. The sentiment is from LOTV.  Have fun everyone, looking forward to visiting your blog.

Add Some Sparkle

This week at Fan-Tastic Tuesday we are being challenged to ~Add Some Sparkle, a nice choice for a few weeks left to Christmas, here is another of my Christmas cards with Tulip and friends from Papermania/Do Crafts. I added lots of crystal Glamour Dust to the cake and holly, I am hoping you will see it if you enlarge the image. have fun everyone, remember our one and only main rule is ' It must be square - for it is Hip to be Square'.

Cute and Cuddly Christmas (Animals)

Time already for My Time To Craft the challenge this week is Cute and Cuddly Christmas with Animals.
I know a Teddy bear isn't exactly politically correct, it not being an animal but who is going to slap my wrists for this faux par? I simply couldn't resist the cuteness of the image along with the papers from La Pashe The Best of 2012 CD. I added some embossed mirri card and red jewels to embellish. The lower sentiment is from LOTV. Have fun with the challenge, looking forward to visiting your blogs.

Friday 6 December 2013

V is for Vellum

Here we are at Alphabet Challenge up to letter V. Avril has chosen Vellum. The piece of Vellum I have used is from a pack I bought forever ago from QVC when they used to do craft well. I only have pieces left now, but I know I will use them one day. I also stamped three baubles from a Paperartsy stamp set, embossed with silver embossing powder. Strung them on silver thread. I made the added  bows. The vellum is positioned on the card with two punch holes at the side tied through with the ribbon and under the baubles with 3D foam which doesn't show. Have fun playing with your Vellum, there are so many ways it can be used. Looking forward to popping onto your blogs.

CAS at Fan-Tastic Challenges

At Fan-Tastic  Tuesday Challenges where it is Hip to be Square - we are going Clean and Simple. I have used a Dreamees stamp of a Christmas Tree. I was so pleased to see the mother and daughter duo on Create and Craft last week and have just read they will be on again during the first week in December. I stamped onto green card with Versamark and heat embossed with gold powder. Added a few red gems to decorate. I am sorry about the lack of light, this was taken early one morning but the light is not good at this time of the year. I look forward to seeing your CAS - Clean and Simple works of art- remember they must be Square.

Home Sweet Home

This week, at CD Sunday Challenges Beryl's challenge is Home Sweet Home. As our regulars know we are a challenge group which require you to use something from a CD or Craft DVD. We mostly concentrate on cards, but, we crafters also know nowadays there are many extras on CD's which are helping us to become 'paper-crafters' as well as card makers. I adore these small birdhouses which are on the Flights of Fancy CD from Katy Sue. I have decided the next set I make, I will cut the doors so they will open and thread some ribbon through the pitch of the roof so they can be hung as well as being stood, then I could stuff them with sweets for added fun for my grandchildren, friends and family. Have fun with the challenge ladies (and any gent's) I look forward to seeing your Home Sweet Home projects.

A New DT Post

I was so thrilled to be accepted onto the Design Team for My Time To Craft. I have followed and entered many of the challenges since I first joined in blogland, it has always been one of my most favourite challenge blogs, and now I am part of the team. Woweeeeeeee! thanks to Shell and the remainder of the team. For my first week there is a sketch to follow. I do like sketches for they make me look at designing in more ways than I would normally, taking me out of my comfort zone, therefore learning new ways and techniques. Which after all is what challenges are all about, isn't it. I literally flipped the sketch and used papers from fizzy Moon and LOTV. the stamp is an old favourite of mine - Santa from Inkadinkado. I look forward to visiting you guys over the next week. Have fun.

Fan-Tastic Challenges - Vintage

This week at Fan-Tastic Tuesday we are asking you to make a Vintage card - anything beyond our current years, I suppose.  My dictionary, only referred to wine, cars, adding  best and most typical, so not very helpful, let's just say anything old will be fine. I recently purchased Man about Town, from Kraftyhands Kreations. I have made a 5 and a 1/4 inch square gate fold card. I am hoping to add a picture of the card standing open tomorrow, it became too dark for me to manage for this post. I have added some buttons for added interest. I look forward to visiting you, I do look at every card you enter. Have fun, remember it is
'Hip to be Square' our entries MUST be SQUARE.

F is for.............

This week at CD Sunday Challenges  it was my turn to choose the topic, so I chose F is for......... and in my case F is for Fabulous Festive Fashion a CD from Katy Sue. Following on from the highly popular CD Fabulous Fashion  came the one with Christmas fashion. This is my card. Both the background paper and the main image are from the CD. There are some many variants but I have used a decoupaged version of the dress. I added silver, red and green glitter to the image. I also used Glossy Accents to add an extra shine. The Design Team have shown how differently we can interpret the challenge, I am so looking forward to what you produce for F is For.......... Above all please have Fun.

U is for Umbrella

At Alphabet Challenges we seem to be going through it very quickly this year, which must mean the year has just flown by for me, do you feel the same way too? Here we are already at the letter U for which Jan has chosen the word Umbrella.  A  good choice for it always seems to be dark, cold and rainy days in November, certainly here in the North East of England. My card is quite different for me this fortnight for it is a C6 card, these days I nearly always make a square or unusual shaped card, but C6 is where I started so back to basics. The background paper is from my stash. The image is from a Crafter's Companion's Frou Frou CD. This card is one of three I made from one printed sheet. The greeting Dreaming of Summer Days is from LOTV. I am sure you will have fun, I look forward to once again visiting you during the challenge.

Baubles Challenge

My Time to Craft are this week challenging us with Baubles. I needed to make a few cards and the Design Team inspired me to make some Bauble cards. This is one of them. I started with a 5 x 7 inch card, these are familiar in the UK not so sure about the US. I then cut a piece of white card and marked the edges with a red Promarker to give it an edge, this was later added with 3D foam pads for dimension. Using a LOTV bauble garland stamp, I stamped it out twice. I then punched out from the two stamped images different parts with 3 different sized punches. I coloured each design with Promarkers and edged the circles as I had previously. I added some red thread, adhered the baubles with 3D foam, then added the red bows. The greeting Joy to the World is from a Katy Sue stamp set.  Thanks for the challenge ladies, I so enjoyed making this card.

Tuesday 19 November 2013

Make It Fancy

This week at Fan-Tastic Tuesday, where it is Hip to be Square, our challenge is to Make It Fancy. Your choice on how this is achieved, let your imagination guide you. I have recently acquired the wonderful CD of Fabulous Festive Fashion - Katy Sue, the backing paper and main image are from this CD. I added a Frosty Border die from Memory Box. Hopefully in the enlarged photo you will see the silver, green and red glitter on the boot. I look forward to visiting you, remember your project must fit in the theme AND be a square project. Have fun.

Simply Square at CD Sunday

At CD Sunday Challenge for this week Jenny has chosen for us Simply Square.   I'll be honest I would say 75-80% of my cards are square, various sizes but square. I always think they look elegant. For my choice I went to Debbie Moore Art Deco Glamour, the background paper and image are from the CD. I added a piece of black ribbon, green gems, black card for matting. Yes, I could have added glitter, but to save you looking I didn't this time. So this week you have a very wide choice for your card, nothing difficult at all, just keep it Simply Square and please have fun.

Let It Snow

This week at Creative Corner the theme for the challenge is 'Let It Snow'. It always looks so picturesque, when it first falls, kids can have so much fun playing in it. Living in the North of England, over the years I have seen more of my fair share of the white stuff, I have struggled walking miles in it to get to work, when neither cars or public transport can beat it, but I still fall for the romantic sound of it all, Let it Snow (not please  here at home until the earliest Christmas Eve - thank you).  Here is my card,  I used a DI Iced Spruce  over a Stamps Away snowflake mask, added some punched out snowflakes to add a little sparkle.
Using Versamark I stamped an Inkadinkadoo snowman, I've had him for maybe 8 years or more, added fine detailed white embossing powder, then heat embossed. The greeting is from a Chloe Stamps.

An Animal @ Sparkle Monthly

Here we are again on the 15th of the month back to Sparkle Monthly, this month we are asking you to use an ANIMAL  on your project. It being so close to Christmas, not surprisingly, some of the DT, (maybe all), have chosen to use a Christmas related animal. Who can resist this wonderful new stamp from Woodware of Rudolph, isn't he just magnificent? I coloured him with Promarkers, I used LOTV Classic Christmas design paper for the background. The sentiment is from Dreamees. I have used Glossy Accents on his nose, heart and holly leaves, which I am hoping you can see when the picture is enlarged. I look forward to visiting you all, we have a system of commenting on a certain number of entries over the month, but I can assure you, I do enjoy visiting every one of you. Have fun and hopefully be well.
For this challenge we are kindly being sponsored by
Please check out all of the details at Sparkle Monthly.

Paper Piecing Challenge

My second grandson celebrated his eighteenth  birthday on Monday this week. Over the weekend I had made this card for him. He is a very snapper dresser, he loves vintage clothes, so I thought this card would be well received which I am delighted to say it was. Over at Crafty Cardmaker their theme this week is Paper Piecing which is the technique I used to dress this Kanban gentleman to give it a more fashionable appearance. I used the same papers as were used for the background. They are from a Country Gent by LOTV. I made the bunting, added threaded buttons. The Time Flies and clock with wings are one stamp from Stampendous. Enjoy the Journey is from a Creative Expressions stamp set of Vintage Transport.

Fan Tastic Tuesday - Add Stars

Hello, another week nearer to Christmas, I'm sure I have enough cards for my own use now, so anything else is either to be sold or off to the Salvation Army Charity Shop. For my DT card this week the theme is - It has be to be square, any project you wish, it can be Anything Goes but you MUST ADD STARS.  I have used for the background papers the Blue Christmas from LOTV, matted onto navy card sock. The main image I have had from my early days of stamping, could be an Inkadinkado but being honest I'm not sure. I do know I love it and have used it almost every one of the ten years I have had it. I coloured it with Promarkers and the stars are well, shh!! don't tell the stamping purists but they are peel off stars. I'm looking forward to visiting your blogs to see your stars. Have a nice week and a fun time creating.

Sunday 10 November 2013

Pennant Parade

For this week Sue B at CD Sunday Challenges has chosen for our theme Pennant Parade.  I used the Crafty Companion's CD  Frou Frou to make this card. The pennants are from a Dreamees CD. It always amazes me how many cards you can get from one printed sheet, I managed three from this one. Have fun everyone, I am sure with this theme we will get a wide variety of projects/cards.

Friday 8 November 2013

T is for Twine

At Alphabet Challenges for the next two weeks Marie chose for the letter T - Twine, a good choice, especially if your like me and have a few rolls in your stash. It's so nice to have a little piece of normality after Halloween and before the next Christmas rush of cards. I decided to make a card ready for if and when a friend is feeling poorly. A good card to have ready on hand. I started with plain Kraft card. I embossed a piece of white with Kraft Core-dinations, embossed it then rubbed it down. After exposing the inner part, I then edged and swept over it with DI Vintage Photo. Added a few pieces of green patterned paper for contrast in layers. The main image is a stamp from Joanna Sheene. I coloured it with Promarkers. Added the twine and a small greeting which I think reads better than the order to Get Well Soon.
Greeting stamp from Hobby Art. I look forward to visiting you over the next few weeks.

Mixed Media Workshop Result

Last Saturday,  I had the greatest pleasure in attending a full day workshop with Sarah Hallum  (Peerless Designs CDs and Masks)  at Frankie's Craftytouch Clark shop in Darlington. It was a wonderful day, of learning new techniques, in mixed media with a super group of women and of course the very talented Sarah. I am no artist, yes, I am a crafter, but not an artist. With an ink pad and a stamp, I feel I will pull off a pretty decent image. With tubes of paint and a paintbrush I am totally in an alien area. With the guidance of Sarah this is the canvas I managed to complete on the day. it still needs a few finishing touches, but even at this stage I am so pleased with my first ever mixed media project. needless to say I will be attempting this again.

Fan-tastic Tuesday Fibres

For our theme at Fan-Tastic Tuesday Challenges this week we are asking to see some FIBRES on your SQUARE project. For my background I have used a sheet of wood like paper from a Boho Chic paper pad. I drew an non straight edging to represent a garden shed, added some brads to look like nails, non straight too. Oh! yes, as precise as I like to be, it is difficult to make something look uneven. The main image is a stamp by Lyndsay Mason, there are other super shelves available on a sheet. I stamped directly onto the wood background and coloured with Promarkers. I wrapped some garden twine (fibre) around the card with a stamped greeting label for Best Dad. Hope you like it and more importantly that it inspires you in some way. I look forward to visiting you.

Stripey at CD Sunday Challenges

This week Jocelyn has introduced a different form of challenge, she is looking for a created piece of CD work with Stripes. a few weeks ago, I used the same CD as I have today, Creative Crafting World - Pollyanna Pickering - British Wildlife. I loved  the combination of the image along with the striped paper, the colours were perfect. All I have added to enhance the printed sheets, is silver mirri card, on white card. A few silver embellishment stars, Glamour Dust  Crystal glitter to the image.  I stamped the Christmas greeting with Versamark and used a detailed white embossing powder, then heat embossed.  I'm sure we will have a terrific assortment this week,  I am so looking forward to visiting you to see your Stripey works of art from a CD.

Fan Tastic Challenge - Halloween

Well Halloween is almost upon us, so this week we at FAN_TASTIC Challenges are asking to see a Halloween project. You may know we started this challenge for Fat Pages 4 inch square works of art, our logo being It's Hip To Be Square'. After a lot of discussion and and suggestions the group have decided to go SQUARE. but it can be any size. it doesn't have to be a card, but whatever project you make it must be square and fit in with the required theme. So here is my 5 inch square card, based on black card, then orange then mirri card. The main image is white card stamped with the witch and ghouls parade from Tandastamps, sadly no longer in business. I coloured the background with 3 shades of blue Distress Inks. There is some glitter in the moon and across the parade but not sure if this will show. I look forward to seeing your entries into our challenge and hope you find the new rules as exciting as we feel they are. If your celebrating Halloween have a good night and hopefully get lots of treats and very few tricks. I shall be busy all night, I've got my Nimbus 45 out of the cupboard and we shall be flying the night sky to our secret place for a witches and warlocks Supper, Spells and Dance night.

Check This Out

Winter Wonderland this week are asking us to Check it Out, pop over to see what their challenge is. You can probably work it out looking at my card. The check paper is from Forever Friends Christmas paper pad. The Christmas cake image coloured with Promarkers is from Papermania, Tulip designs. Thanks for popping by.

Travels Abroad

This week at CD Sunday Challenges, Christine has given us an exciting opportunity to Travel Abroad.   A country I would so like to visit is Italy, in particular Venice. I know, unless Mr. Lottery is good to me, this is not going to happen, so instead I will indulge in fantasies. Thank goodness for these opportunities when card making. I have made the 8 inch sq card using a collage page and image from Debbie Moore Shabby Chic Travel CD. The lady is also from Debbie Moore but from the Art Deco Glamour DVD. I have added a butterfly, pink and silver glitter here and there. I look forward to my week ahead of travelling abroad, I wonder how many countries I shall visit. Have fun everyone.
Also added to Paper Creators Crafts - Pink or Blue

NB. On a private note, as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I am hoping to find other challenges to enter this card, so if anyone knows of appropriate challenges for me to spread the word by making a pink, feminine card I would appreciate you suggesting it in your comments- to help me spread awareness. Thank you for your help.

S is for Scary at Alphabet Challenge

Not many days to go till it's Halloween - so no wonder Sheena at Alphabet Challenge has chosen S is for
SCARY .  Here I used a black card. The main image has been created, first by colouring the sky and the ground, using Distress Inks, an image of Whitby Abbey, from Crafty Individuals, the ghouls long stamp was from Tandastamps, sadly no longer in business. A light spray appropriately of Desert Moon Horny Toad Teal. I wish all the Halloween enthusiasts a Spooky - Scary time and for everyone else please just ignore we ghouls, but have fun making a project for our Scary theme.

Monday 21 October 2013

Carol Singers

At Winter Wonderland challenges this week the theme is Carol Singers. I had just completed a card which is perfect for the challenge. I have tried something different. They do say in the craft TV world that Kraft card is becoming more popular, maybe so, but sadly I don't see much of it on the different challenges I visit and favour. So here is my offering. I did buy at Doncaster show a LOTV Kraft patterned paper pad so need to use it. I edged the papers with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I used Brayed Burlap, Vintage Photo for the LOTV Carol singers stamp. The greeting is a stamp from my stash. Thanks ladies for a super challenge.
Nonni, a Blogging friend of mine has suggested I add this card into her current challenge which is here - Let's Get Inky - Stamping happy Christmas. Thanks Nonni for the nudge, hope your challenge is a success and you are well.

Christmas Challenges with Sketches

Christmas Challenges with Sketches are looking to expand their DT. Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, by being part of an all year round DT for Christmas would thrill me, I would have the joy of extending my Christmas, I would be getting many cards made over the year instead of a rush in the latter few months. I would so enjoy being part of a Dutch blog,  learning and meeting new crafters. So with my entry above, I hope the ladies will consider me for a position with their team. I have used papers from a Forever Friends, Christmas Kraft Pad. Greeting from LOTV, the sweet little girl is from Hollie Hobbie, free with a magazine, I coloured her with Promarkers.

#179 Sketch at Sunday Stamp and Sketch

Another wonderful Sketch # 179 for the next two weeks from Sunday Stamp and Sketch with thanks to
Sam.  One of my grandsons has a birthday very soon, around the time of Halloween, a time of year he greatly enjoys. I have followed the sketch with this in mind, for it will be his birthday card. I used some scrapbook paper I bought some time ago for my "in-progress - Halloween Book" - it grows each year, then Halloween passes and I put it away for another year. (You'll find it in the Labels List).  The main image is from an Indigo Blu set called Hocus Pocus, coloured with Promarkers. I wonder how many of you are thinking what is the Boo for, well I know my curious grandson will immediately get hold of the tab and lift it up, and this is what he will see.
Have fun everyone with the sketch, I look forward to seeing how you have interpreted the super design.

Fox and Friends at CD Sunday

At CD Sunday Challenge - Sue T is challenging us with Fox and Friends.  I have taken my twisted pyramage main image from Creative Crafting World - Pollyanna Pickering - British Wildlife - what an amazing artist this lady is, and what a pleasure to be able to use her art in paper crafting. I used a Kraft card, the background is a sheet printed from The 1950s CD from Krafty hands.  I added a piece of brown ribbon and a few brown card candy, with a stamped greeting. I am so looking forward to visiting you to see your projects with Foxes and Friends.

Let's Go Crazy

I just love the challenge this week on Creative Corner Challenges, 'Let's Go Crazy'. Don't we all at times just feel like going a little mad, well, I do. As Halloween is approaching I think this is an appropriate card. I found the free image on the internet, loving the poster which says 'Ghouls Night Out'.  I added some frayed material with a pretty brooch  attached and some black and white  sparkly gingham ribbon. Thanks girls a great challenge.

Sparkles Forum Challenges - Design Team

I was delighted to be accepted as part of the Sparkles Forum Challenges Design Team, a wonderful monthly challenge blog.  The project for October is either Halloween or a colour challenge - to use Purple, Orange and Black. I have always loved Halloween, though it is now even more enjoyable, I know it's a commercial way of extracting more money from us, but inside I'm still a girl wanting to have fun, I enjoy all the ghouls, ghosts, witches and vampires stuff. Having 6 grandchildren has given me so much fun in so many ways. I made an octagonal easel card. Used Distress inks to colour the front, stamped branches, the house and ghouls. Splattered water for atmosphere. Glitter touches here and there. Spider's webs, no spiders for those who may have a phobia, bats, and a large pumpkin. All of the stamps, except the branch were from Tandastamps, sadly no longer in business. The branch is from Sheena Douglas - Pinescape stamps.  I am so looking forward to visiting you to see your projects during October - November, have fun everyone. For those who do enjoy Halloween I'm hoping you all have a super spooky time.
